We started in Cefalu, a traditional colourful Sicilian coastal town dominated by its beautiful cathedral. We then walked for a week between hilltop villages in the Madonie National Park , which contains Sicily's highest mountains, and is known as 'The Southern Dolomites' as they are also formed from limestone. We ended in Palermo which is an incredible juxtaposition of Arab, Norman and Baroque architecture containing many jewels amongst its run down streets: fading palazzos being restored, golden mosaics, monasteries, nunneries and incredible church interiors.
